Congenital Hand Abnormalies

These come in various forms from overgrowth to undergrowth and from absence of the digits to extra digits.
Surgery is usually the best option. In thumb duplications, correction improves the function and appearance.

Absence of the fingers

Left hand with absence of all 4 fingers. Patient had 2 toes transferred at age of 18 months.

In absence of the digits, toe transfers will improve the function of the hand but will never improve the cosmesis. We overcome this with prosthesis.
